How to Use Trial-to-Paid Conversion Calculator — Free Trial Conversion

How to Use the Trial-to-Paid Conversion Calculator

Step 1: Enter Your Trial Signups

Input the total number of free trial starts in the period you are measuring (e.g. a month or quarter).

Step 2: Enter Converted Customers

Enter how many of those trial users converted to a paid plan during the same period.

Step 3: Enter Average MRR per Customer

Input your average monthly recurring revenue per paying customer. This is used to translate conversion improvements into dollar impact.

Step 4: Read Your Conversion Rate

The calculator shows your current trial-to-paid conversion rate as a percentage, along with the resulting current MRR and ARR.

Step 5: Review Revenue Impact Scenarios

The improvement table shows how your MRR and ARR would change if you improved conversion rate by +1, +5, or +10 absolute percentage points. For example, moving from 5% to 6% conversion (+1pp) on 200 trials at $100 avg MRR adds $200 MRR and $2,400 ARR per period.

Tips

  • Use presets to benchmark against Low, Average SaaS, or High Conversion starting points
  • Improvements are in absolute percentage points, not relative — moving from 5% to 6% is a +1pp improvement
  • Focus on the ARR column to understand the long-term compounding value of conversion optimization
