How to Use SaaS Quick Ratio Calculator — Audit Growth Efficiency and MRR Retention Health

How to Use the SaaS Quick Ratio Calculator

Step 1: Enter Your MRR Movement

For the period you want to measure (typically a month or quarter), enter:

  • New MRR — revenue from brand-new customers
  • Expansion MRR — additional revenue from existing customers (upsells, seat additions)
  • Churned MRR — lost revenue from cancelled subscriptions
  • Contraction MRR — reduced revenue from downgrades

Step 2: Read the Quick Ratio

The Quick Ratio is calculated as (New MRR + Expansion MRR) / (Churned MRR + Contraction MRR). It tells you how many dollars of MRR you gain for every dollar you lose.

Step 3: Check Your Growth Quality Rating

  • Excellent (≥ 4x) — best-in-class growth efficiency
  • Healthy (2x – 4x) — solid, sustainable growth
  • At Risk (1x – 2x) — growth is barely outpacing losses
  • Shrinking (< 1x) — losing more MRR than you are gaining

Step 4: Review Gross Gain vs. Gross Loss

The gauge and bar chart show how your gross gain (new + expansion) compares to your gross loss (churned + contraction) against the widely-used 4x benchmark, along with your net new MRR for the period.
