How to Use NPS Score Calculator — Net Promoter Score

How to Use the NPS Score Calculator

Step 1: Enter Your Response Counts

Input the number of survey respondents in each group:

  • Promoters — respondents who rated you 9 or 10 out of 10
  • Passives — respondents who rated you 7 or 8 out of 10
  • Detractors — respondents who rated you 0 through 6 out of 10

Step 2: Read Your NPS Score

The calculator instantly computes your Net Promoter Score using the formula: NPS = % Promoters − % Detractors

Scores range from −100 (all detractors) to +100 (all promoters).

Step 3: Understand Your Category

Your score is rated against five tiers:

  • World-Class (70 to 100) — exceptional loyalty, customers actively champion your brand
  • Excellent (50 to 69) — strong loyalty with most customers promoting your product
  • Good (30 to 49) — healthy sentiment above most industry averages
  • Acceptable (0 to 29) — positive but room to grow
  • Needs Improvement (below 0) — more detractors than promoters

Step 4: Compare Against Industry Benchmarks

The benchmark table shows how your NPS compares to average scores across 10 industries including Software/SaaS, E-commerce, Retail, Healthcare, and more. Green values mean you are above the benchmark; red means below.

Step 5: Use Presets to Explore

Load the High NPS, Average NPS, or Low NPS presets to quickly see how different response distributions affect the score and benchmark standing.
