How to Use ARR Calculator

How to Use the ARR Calculator

Step 1: Choose Input Mode

Select whether you want to enter values as ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) or MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue). MRR values are automatically multiplied by 12 to produce ARR.

Step 2: Enter Current and Previous Period Values

  • Previous Year ARR — your ARR at the start of the period (or end of last year)
  • Current Year ARR — your ARR at the end of the current period

The calculator immediately shows YoY growth rate and net new ARR from these two numbers alone.

Step 3: Add ARR Movement Breakdown (Optional)

For a full picture including NRR and an ARR bridge waterfall, fill in the four movement components:

  • New ARR — revenue from brand-new customers
  • Expansion ARR — additional revenue from existing customers (upsells, seat additions)
  • Churned ARR — lost revenue from cancelled subscriptions
  • Contraction ARR — reduced revenue from downgrades

Step 4: Read the Results

  • Current ARR — your annualized recurring revenue
  • YoY Growth — year-over-year percentage change with trend indicator
  • Net New ARR — the absolute change in ARR (or sum of movement components)
  • NRR — Net Revenue Retention, shown only when movement breakdown is provided

Step 5: Review the ARR Bridge

The ARR Bridge chart shows a horizontal waterfall from Previous ARR through each movement component to Current ARR, making it easy to see whether growth is driven by new customers, expansion, or is being offset by churn.
