How to Use the ARR Growth Planner
Step 1: Enter Your Starting ARR and Target Growth
Enter your Starting ARR and the Target Growth percentage you want to hit over the next 12 months (e.g. 40% for a target of 1.4x current ARR).
Step 2: Enter Churn and Expansion Assumptions
Enter your expected Annual Churn Rate (gross % of starting ARR lost to cancellations/downgrades) and Expansion Rate (gross % of starting ARR gained from upsells/cross-sells on existing customers).
Step 3: Read the Required New ARR
The planner backs into the Required New ARR — the new-business ARR you need to close over the year — after accounting for churn losses and expansion gains, plus the monthly pace needed to hit it.
Step 4: Check the Feasibility Rating
- Expansion Covers Target — expansion alone meets or exceeds your growth goal
- Conservative (< 10% of starting ARR) — modest new-business lift required
- Moderate (10–25%) — a typical new-business growth requirement
- Ambitious (25–50%) — a significant new-business push is needed
- Aggressive (50%+) — new-business ARR needs to grow substantially relative to your base
Step 5: Review the Monthly Milestone Schedule
The schedule shows cumulative ARR and percent-to-target for each of the next 12 months, assuming a linear ramp of new business, expansion, and churn.
