How to Use the Terraform Variable Generator
Step 1: Define Your Variables
For each variable, enter a name, pick a type (string, number, bool, list(string), or map(string)), and optionally a default value and description. Use Add Variable to add more rows.
Step 2: Enter Default Values
For list(string), enter comma-separated items (e.g. us-east-1a, us-east-1b). For map(string), enter comma-separated key=value pairs (e.g. Environment=production, Team=platform). Leave the default blank to make the variable required.
Step 3: Copy or Download Both Files
The tool generates variables.tf (variable declarations with type, description, and default) and a matching terraform.tfvars (concrete values) in real time. Variables left without a default are marked with a # TODO comment in the tfvars output so nothing is missed.
Step 4: Drop Into Your Module
Copy or download both files directly into your Terraform module root alongside your main.tf.
