How to Use the Kubernetes Resource Quota Calculator
Step 1: Enter Your Namespace
Type the namespace this quota applies to.
Step 2: List Each Deployment
For every Deployment (or StatefulSet) in the namespace, add a row with its replica count and per-pod CPU/memory requests and limits — the same values used in each pod spec's resources block.
Step 3: Review the Namespace Totals
The tool multiplies each deployment's per-pod values by its replica count and sums everything across all deployments: total pods, total CPU requests/limits, and total memory requests/limits.
Step 4: Copy the ResourceQuota Manifest
Copy the generated ResourceQuota YAML and apply it with kubectl apply -f quota.yaml to cap what the namespace can consume.
Tips
- CPU accepts millicores (
250m) or whole/fractional cores (1,0.5). - Memory accepts
Ki,Mi,Gi, orTisuffixes, matching standard Kubernetes resource units. - Add headroom by entering a few extra replicas per deployment, or bump values up manually in the applied manifest, if you want quota room for rolling deployments (which briefly run old + new pods together) or future scaling.
