OAuth State Parameter Validator — Verify Anti-CSRF Tokens and Security State
Generate cryptographically secure OAuth 2.0 state parameters and validate existing tokens for CSRF protection. Choose token length (128/160/256-bit) and format, get a ready-to-use authorization URL, and verify tokens meet OWASP entropy recommendations.
How to Use OAuth State Parameter Validator — Verify Anti-CSRF Tokens and Security State
How to Use the OAuth State Token Generator:
Generate Tab:
Choose Token Length: Select 128-bit (OWASP minimum), 160-bit (recommended), or 256-bit (high security). A new token is generated automatically when you change the length.
Choose Format: Base64url (compact, URL-safe), Hex (lowercase hex string), or Alphanumeric (letters and digits only). All formats are safe to include in OAuth authorization URLs.
Copy the State Token: Use the Copy button next to the token value to grab it for use in your server-side code. You must store this value in the user session before redirecting.
Copy the Authorization URL: The tool generates a complete OAuth authorization URL with the state parameter already included. Replace YOUR_CLIENT_ID and your redirect_uri with your actual values.
Copy the Verification Snippet: The JavaScript snippet shows the complete store-and-verify pattern — how to save the state before the redirect and verify it matches the returned state in your callback handler.
Validate Tab:
Paste a State Token: Paste any existing state parameter value to analyze it.
Run Analysis: Click "Analyze Token" to see entropy estimation, encoding detection, and security checks against OWASP recommendations.
Review Results: The tool checks for minimum entropy (128 bits), recommended entropy (160 bits), whether the token is opaque (not a JWT), and URL safety.
Use Example Tokens: Try the built-in examples to see how a good token, a weak token, and a JWT-as-state token score.
