How to Use iCalendar (.ics) Event Generator — Build RFC 5545 Compliant Calendar Feeds

How to Use the iCalendar Event Generator

Step 1: Fill in Event Details

  • Title — required. This becomes the SUMMARY field in the ICS file.
  • All-day event — check this to create a full-day event (no time fields). Multi-day all-day events are supported.
  • Start / End date & time — for timed events, set both date and time. For all-day events, only dates are used.
  • Timezone — select your IANA timezone (e.g. America/New_York). UTC is the default. All-day events ignore the timezone.
  • Location — a venue address or meeting URL (e.g. https://meet.example.com).
  • Description — free-text notes included in the event body.

Step 2: Set Optional Fields

  • URL — a link associated with the event (e.g. a registration page).
  • Organizer name & email — adds the ORGANIZER field to the ICS. Both name and email must be filled to include it.
  • StatusConfirmed (default), Tentative, or Cancelled. Confirmed status is omitted from the ICS (it is the implicit default).

Step 3: Configure Recurrence

  • Repeat — choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly to add an RRULE.
  • Repeat on (weekly only) — select which days of the week the event repeats (e.g. Mon–Fri for weekdays).
  • Ends — choose when the recurrence stops:
    • Never — the event repeats indefinitely.
    • After N occurrences — adds COUNT=N to the RRULE.
    • On date — adds UNTIL=YYYYMMDDTHHMMSSZ to the RRULE.

Step 4: Copy or Download

  • Copy ICS — copies the raw ICS text to your clipboard.
  • Download .ics — saves a event-title.ics file you can open directly in any calendar application.
