AWS IAM Policy Analyzer — Lint Security Risks and Validate Least Privilege
Paste an AWS IAM policy JSON to instantly check for wildcard actions, over-permissive resources, public principals, and privilege escalation risks. Get severity-rated findings with specific least-privilege fix suggestions.
How to Use AWS IAM Policy Analyzer — Lint Security Risks and Validate Least Privilege
How to Use the AWS IAM Policy Analyzer:
Paste Your Policy: Copy your IAM policy JSON from the AWS Console, CLI output, or Terraform/CloudFormation and paste it into the input area. The tool accepts Identity-based policies, Resource-based policies, and Trust policies.
Load an Example: Click one of the preset buttons to load a sample policy — from a full-admin policy (most dangerous) to a well-written least-privilege policy for comparison.
Click Analyze Policy: The tool parses your JSON and runs a suite of security checks. If the JSON is invalid, a parse error is shown inline.
Review the Risk Score: A score from 0 to 100 is calculated — 100 means no issues found, lower scores indicate progressively more dangerous policies. The score reflects severity-weighted deductions.
Read the Findings: Each finding shows a severity badge (CRITICAL / HIGH / MEDIUM / LOW / INFO). Click any finding to expand it and see:
- What the issue is and why it matters
- Which statement index or Sid is affected
- A specific fix suggestion
- A corrected code snippet where applicable
Fix and Re-analyze: Apply the suggested fixes to your policy JSON and re-run the analyzer to confirm the issues are resolved.
Checks Performed:
- Full admin access: Action "" with Resource ""
- Wildcard Principal ("*") allowing public access
- Service-level wildcards (e.g. s3:, ec2:, iam:*)
- Wildcard Resource ("*") on specific actions
- IAM write actions without permission boundary conditions
- sts:AssumeRole without MFA or ExternalId conditions
- KMS and Secrets Manager access without source constraints
- Use of NotAction or NotResource (often too permissive)
- Missing Version field (policy version best practice)
- Absence of any explicit Deny statements

Use Tool →JSONL Formatter — Line-by-Line Validator
Format, validate, and inspect JSON Lines (JSONL) and NDJSON files. Validates each line individually, reports parse errors by line number, outputs compact JSONL or a pretty-print preview, and lets you download the cleaned file.
Use Tool →Password Entropy Calculator — Crack Time Estimator
Calculate the information-theoretic bit entropy of any password or API key. Detects character set pools automatically, shows the total number of possible combinations, and estimates crack time across five attack scenarios from rate-limited web logins to GPU cracking clusters.
Use Tool →TLS Cipher Suite Checker — Strength Analyzer
Check TLS protocol version compatibility and cipher suite strength ratings against current best practices. Supports IANA and OpenSSL cipher names — rates each suite as Strong, Weak, or Deprecated and explains why.
Use Tool →Secret Scanner — API Key & Credential Detector
Scan pasted text, code, or config files for accidentally exposed API keys, tokens, passwords, and private keys. Detects 50+ secret types across AWS, GitHub, Stripe, OpenAI, and more — all client-side, nothing leaves your browser.
Use Tool →TOML Config Validator — Syntax Error Finder
Validate TOML configuration file syntax and report errors with line numbers. Paste any TOML content — Cargo.toml, pyproject.toml, config.toml — and instantly see a green checkmark with key counts and structure stats, or a precise error message pointing to the exact line. Includes a collapsible JSON structure preview to confirm what was parsed.
