API Documentation Generator
Turn cURL commands and raw HTTP requests into clean Markdown API documentation instantly. Paste one or more requests, and the generator extracts the method, URL, query parameters, headers, and JSON body, then outputs a structured Markdown doc with a parameter table, header table, request body block, and a formatted cURL example. Supports CRUD sets — paste multiple requests separated by a blank line and get a complete multi-endpoint reference. Free, browser-based, no server.
How to Use API Documentation Generator
How to Use the API Documentation Generator
Step 1: Paste Your Requests
Paste one or more cURL commands or raw HTTP requests into the left panel. The generator auto-detects the format.
cURL format:
curl -X POST "https://api.example.com/users" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer token" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"name": "Alice"}'
Raw HTTP format:
POST /users HTTP/1.1
Host: api.example.com
Content-Type: application/json
{"name": "Alice"}
Step 2: Multiple Requests
To document several endpoints at once, separate each request with a blank line. The generator will number them and add a table of contents at the top.
Step 3: Read and Copy the Output
The Markdown output appears in the right panel in real-time. Click Copy Markdown to copy it to your clipboard. Paste it into your README, Notion, Confluence, or any Markdown editor.
What Gets Extracted
- HTTP method and full URL
- Query parameters (parsed from the URL)
- Request headers (formatted as a table)
- Request body (pretty-printed if JSON)
- A clean cURL example reconstructed from the parsed data
Tips
- Load one of the example presets to see what the output looks like before pasting your own requests
- Multi-line cURL commands with backslash continuation are fully supported
- The generator handles mixed formats in the same paste session
